BIOFACH 2022
At BIOFAH, the world’s largest fair of organic product, which has been held every year in Nuremberg (Germany) since 1990, Serbian companies presented themselves at the national stand organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, the Development Agency of Serbia and National Association for Organic Production Serbia Organica; “ES Komerc” from Prijepolje, “Ecoagri Serbia” from Bela Crkva, “Drenovac” from Arilje, “Menex” from Kruševac, “Master Food” from Užice, “ITN Group” and “Nisha” from Belgrade, “Agro- Bis”, from Blac and “Frutorg” from Prokuplje offered organic fresh, dried, lyophilized and frozen fruits and vegetables, dried mushrooms, cereals, oilseeds, pasta, flour, jams, and fruit spreads.
As part of the diverse conference part that accompanies this fair, a round table was held, which was organized and supported by the Organic Trade 4 Development in Eastern Europe program (OT4D) supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and implemented by IFOAM – Organics International (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) in collaboration with the consortium Helvetas (Swiss Agency for International Cooperation) and FiBL (Swiss Research Institute of Organic Agriculture). National Association for development of organic production Serbia Organica is a partner in the implementation of activities in Serbia.
At the round table, Jelena Milić, Head of the Organic Production Group of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, presented the overview and trends in the organic production sector in Serbia. In particular, she emphasized the continuous growth of areas under organic production, the development of livestock organic production, the increase in the number of producers involved in organic production, the increase in the value of exports in 2021 by 57.4% compared to 2020, exceptional measures to support organic production by the line ministry, as well as continuous activities on the harmonization of the legislative framework in organic production in accordance with the regulations of the European Union.
